Department of International Studies


Background

International Studies is the multidisciplinary course that focuses on global issues and development and the complex relationship between societies and governments that shape the world we live in. The themes underlying the curriculum embrace interdisciplinary subjects including political sciences, economic development, foreign relations, and more. Department of International Studies draws on a broad range of recognized Cambodian experts at Royal University of Phnom Penh who see the need for Cambodia to have future leaders who are well-equipped with analytical skills and knowledge of the global world.


Vision

Department of International Studies envisions that graduates from the course will be equipped with multidisciplinary skills and knowledge that enable them to work effectively and efficiently in many different fields particularly in the field of international corporation. We expect that some of these graduates will be the future diplomats of Cambodia.


Missions

  1. Provides a wide range of courses related to international relations, politics, development, and economics;
  2. Enhances students' critical and analytical thinking and independent learning;
  3. Nurtures students' ability to apply theories learned in the class to real life situations;
  4. Guides students' to understand how public and private organizations work and function; and
  5. Produces students who are able to act responsibly as good citizens of Cambodia and the world.


Program Duration

This program lasts four years full-time. Each academic year is scheduled into a bi-semester-per-year system with elective courses conducted between academic years. There are 30 one-and-half-hour sessions for both required and elective courses.
